The weakest link in the chain...

The most important function of a decoupling element is to absorb the constant vibrations and heat fluctuations generated by the engine and shield more expensive parts such as emission technology and sensors, from mechanical damage. For this reason, it is often found as a part of the front pipe, or a separate element connected to it.

There are 2 different types of decoupling elements, each with different advantages and features. Always make sure you replace broken decoupling elements with similar types, as the system has been engineered to work with that specific type .

Dinex full range of decoupling elements are all based on similar technologies as supplied to OEMs, and designed with competitiveness, performance and durability in mind.

Technical Insights: What’s the difference between a flexible pipe and a bellow?

Contrary to many beliefs, flex-pipes and bellows are not designed to absorb dimensional deviations. If a pipe can't be installed in its nominal position, it shouldn't be used. Check for misalignment in other system parts that may have caused the previous pipe to break.

Product Flex Hose 81113

Flexible pipe / Flex-hose

The most flexible solution, but also the least leakage-tight one. Produced by folding a thin metal strip into a pipe. Absorbs movement in all directions, both axial, bending, and to some extend also torsional. Dinex offers multiple different designs all engineered to meet leakage and flexibility requirements.

Product Bellow 68239 (1)

Bellows: For Leak-tight applications

A thin pipe section formed with bulges that makes it work similarly to a spring. Completely leak-tight and effective at absorbing axial and bending movements, as well as temperature fluctuations.

Innovation Insights: Ready for Euro 7

When the future emission regulations comes into effect, the OEMs need to reduce leakage-rates significantly compared to Euro VI levels, in order to comply with the new standards. Noatbly, without compromising vibration and temperature resistance!

Dinex’ engineers have come up with a unique solution: The Dinex Leak-Tight Decoupling element – or DLTD. Read more about our future proof solution in this Technology Insight from our Innovation team, which is already a central part in multiple OEMs concept solutions for future emission standards.
